O futuro promete mais tecnologia, automação e Inteligência Artificial. Mas terá menos jovens, populações mais envelhecidas e uma crescente pressão sobre o talento. A sustentabilidade deixou de ser uma questão ambiental para se tornar um desafio de transformação coletiva. Num mundo que fala constantemente sobre inovação, quem está a ser deixado para trás? E que futuro se está a construir quando se continua a ignorar parte do talento disponível? Entre a visão das novas gerações, a experiência dos mais velhos e o contributo de pessoas frequentemente excluídas das narrativas de progresso, este debate desafia-nos a repensar quem faz realmente parte do after tomorrow. O futuro não será sustentável apenas pela tecnologia que se cria ou pelos recursos que se preservam, mas pela capacidade de envolver todas as pessoas na sua construção. DEBATE – “WHO IS PART OF THE FUTURE? TALENT, SUSTAINABILITY, AND INCLUSION IN BUILDING THE AFTER TOMORROW”
The future promises more technology, automation, and artificial intelligence. But it will have fewer young people, aging populations, and growing pressure on talent. Sustainability has evolved from an environmental issue into a challenge requiring collective transformation. In a world that constantly talks about innovation, who is being left behind? And what kind of future are we building when we continue to ignore part of the available talent? Between the vision of the younger generations, the experience of our elders, and the contributions of people often excluded from narratives of progress, this debate challenges us to rethink who truly belongs to the “after tomorrow.” The future will not be sustainable solely because of the technology we create or the resources we preserve, but because of our ability to involve everyone in building it. The future is not just technological; it is human, collective, and sustainable. Will it be so?

Alberto Ramos é Country Manager do Bankinter Portugal e Presidente do Conselho de Administração do Universo IME, S.A.
É licenciado em Economia pela Universidade do Porto e ao longo do seu percurso, concluiu ainda vários programas de formação executiva, entre os quais o Leading Digital Business Transformation, na IMD Business School, em Lausanne, na Suíça; o Singularity Executive Program, em São Francisco, na Califórnia; o Advanced Development Program for Top Management, na Nova SBE Executive Education; um MBA pela Universidade Católica Portuguesa e um Master em Finanças pela Ashridge Business School em Inglaterra.
Iniciou a carreira profissional em 1994, no Banco Espírito Santo. Entre 2006 e 2016, integrou o Barclays Bank Portugal, onde assumiu diversas funções de liderança. Participou no programa de expansão do banco em Portugal, foi Diretor do Segmento Premier e, mais tarde, Diretor Coordenador da rede de agências em Lisboa. Foi ainda Diretor do Segmento de Negócios para a Ibéria e membro da Comissão Executiva, como Chief Commercial Officer do Barclays em Portugal.
No Bankinter Portugal, integrou a Comissão Executiva como Diretor de Banca Comercial em 2016 e foi nomeado Country Manager em 2017. É também membro do Comité de Direção do Grupo Bankinter e Presidente do Conselho de Administração do Universo IME, S.A.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Porto and, throughout his career, has also completed several executive education programs, including “Leading Digital Business Transformation” at IMD Business School in Lausanne, Switzerland; the Singularity Executive Program in San Francisco, California; the Advanced Development Program for Top Management at Nova SBE Executive Education; an MBA from the Portuguese Catholic University; and a Master’s in Finance from Ashridge Business School in England.
He began his professional career in 1994 at Banco Espírito Santo. Between 2006 and 2016, he worked at Barclays Bank Portugal, where he held various leadership positions. He participated in the bank’s expansion program in Portugal, served as Director of the Premier Segment, and later as Coordinating Director of the branch network in Lisbon. He also served as Director of the Business Segment for Iberia and as a member of the Executive Committee, serving as Chief Commercial Officer for Barclays in Portugal.
At Bankinter Portugal, he joined the Executive Committee as Director of Commercial Banking in 2016 and was appointed Country Manager in 2017. He is also a member of the Bankinter Group’s Management Committee and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Universo IME, S.A.
