David Simas é o Diretor Executivo de Investigação e Impacto da Emerson Collective, onde lidera o desenvolvimento de iniciativas de investigação aprofundadas e a divulgação de conclusões e análises em apoio às prioridades da Emerson, incluindo democracia, imigração, educação e clima.
Natural de Taunton, Massachusetts, David foi nomeado Vice-Chefe de Gabinete do Governador de Massachusetts, Deval Patrick, em 2007. Em 2009, juntou-se à administração do Presidente Barack Obama como Assistente Adjunto do Presidente, trabalhando em estreita colaboração com os principais assessores David Axelrod e David Plouffe. Em 2012, desempenhou funções como Diretor de Investigação de Opinião na campanha de reeleição do Presidente Obama. Após as eleições, David regressou à Casa Branca como Assistente do Presidente e Diretor do Gabinete de Estratégia Política e Divulgação.
Em 2016, o Presidente Obama escolheu David para exercer o cargo de Diretor Executivo da Fundação Obama.
David é licenciado em Ciência Política pelo Stonehill College e possui um doutoramento em Direito (J.D.) pela Faculdade de Direito do Boston College. Filho de dois imigrantes portugueses, vive em Taunton, Massachusetts, com a sua esposa, Shauna, e as suas duas filhas, Payton e Rowan.

David Simas is the Managing Director of Research and Impact at Emerson Collective, where he leads the development of in-depth research initiatives and the dissemination of findings and analysis in support of Emerson’s priorities, including democracy, immigration, education, and climate.
A native of Taunton, Massachusetts, David was appointed Deputy Chief of Staff to Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick in 2007. He joined President Barack Obama’s administration in 2009 as a Deputy Assistant to the President, working closely with senior advisors David Axelrod and David Plouffe. In 2012, he served as Director of Opinion Research for President Obama’s reelection campaign. Following the election, David returned to the White House as Assistant to the President and Director of the Office of Political Strategy and Outreach.
In 2016, President Obama selected David to serve as Chief Executive Officer of the Obama Foundation.
David holds a B.A. in Political Science from Stonehill College and a J.D. from Boston College Law School. The son of two Portuguese immigrants, he lives in Taunton, Massachusetts, with his wife, Shauna, and their two daughters, Payton and Rowan
