It is not enough to just know the way and to control the pace in which we do it. It is also important to know whether we are moving together and at the same pace. Does the unity of teams, the unity of businesses and organisations, the unity of States, really reflect this? Is the world is more fragmented or more united today? Do companies know how to work together? Should competition prevail over cooperation? If the world is global is it more important to divide or to unite?
We are all different and that is the great wealth of humanity. We can discover patterns or trends at behavioural label, but we are all in fact unique. Unique in the way we think, act and face the challenges that the world places in our way.
Diversity is in fact the greatest wealth of humanity. It guarantees progress, evolution, and to overcome our most basic of limitations. Which angles should we opt for when looking at diversity? How can we look at Man and guarantee his individuality and the potential of his talents? Is the punishment of discrimination enough in itself to respect diversity? How can leaders guarantee that organisations are more inclusive? Diversity of race, creeds, gender, generations and ways of thinking, are all parts of an abundance that we must know how to articulate.
The fourth revolution is at its peak, and machines have supposedly arrived to help us. Are we interested in being replaced by them? Is their artificial intelligence enough to give our lives meaning? Should we be fully aware of the idea of instrumentalisation when we talk of the relationships between artificial intelligence and human intelligence? IS it possible that one day machines will have the capacity to understand the metaphysical dimension of the human? Is there transcendence in artificial intelligence? Is it through spirituality that we can delineate the exclusivity zones of the human being? What approaches will leaders implement in this duel? How can we develop human spirituality?
Today we have more simplified lives. We live longer, we have more hospitals, more schools. We communicate more. We are in constant on-going mutual contact all the time. We are continuously perfecting ourselves. We are working to be forever young. Are we happier? Do we have greater freedom or are we more independent? Are we really aware of what truly motivates us? Are we merely instrumental in the face of a reality which is in fact surpassing us? Should we be as afraid of technology as we are of the forces of nature? What is the purpose of leaders in this new world? Are leaders truly free to make decisions? What conditions them?
Today the world is global. The impacts of leadership decisions are increasingly ambivalent. To understand whether the global world is sustainable carries profound questions which refer us to climate change, to ocean contamination, to the new methods of energy production, to recovery and recycling, to food production, to biodiversity. Are leaders aware of the exact impacts of their decisions on the sustainability of human life on the planet? Are they are capable of assessing those impacts? Are they open to reorganising their businesses and their companies within this sustainability concept? Are they sufficiently aware of this reality?
Are we moving together at this accelerated pace towards a new, global and digital world? Are we leaving someone behind along the way? Will the older generations understand the new world and will they be able to integrate now that they are all living so much longer? Are Nations, organisations, companies and families prepared to take in the seniors of our society in a manner which confers dignity and productive returns? And can those who flee from their countries make this civilisational journey in a fair and just way? And who else will be left behind when the world is fast and furious? How can we bring up to our speed, those who for extrinsic reasons, are being left behind?
