Rui Lopes Ferreira studied Economics (degree in 1985) and Financial Analysis (Post-Graduation in 1989) at the School of Economics and Management of the University of Porto. He also has an AMP – Advanced Management Programme – by INSEAD, Fontainebleau (2001). From 1986 to 2000 he worked at BPI (Portuguese Bank of Investment) in Corporate Finance and Large Company’s Corporate Banking. He was also the Executive Administrator of Inter-Risco, SA, a society of risk capital that the BPI group owned from 2000 to 2006. Rui Lopes Ferreira also had different responsibilities as a non-executive board member of companies where the BPI Group had investments in (ParaRede, SIC, Vista Ensitel, Altitude Software; Vista Alegre Atlantis, WhatEverNet). From 2004 to 2006 he was the CFO at Vista Alegre Atlantis, assuming responsibilities in the strategic repositioning of the company and in the restructuration of the financial debt. In the period 2006-2013 Rui Lopes Ferreira was CFO at Unicer, where he was not only responsible for the financial-administrative area but also for other areas like Tourism and Maltibérica. He is now CEO of UNICER since 2015.
