Mmamokwena Gaoretelelwe
Ambassador of South Africa


Mmamokwena Gaoretelelwe is the South African Ambassador to Portugal. Before becoming Ambassador, she was the Secretary to the North West Provincial Legislature.

She has served in several positions in the North West Provincial Legislature. She held positions as MEC for Education, Sports, Arts and Culture and was a Member of Legislature and Deputy Secretary.

Ambassador Gaoretelelwe studied Pedagogics. She has also obtained a Bachelors degree in Educational Planning and Management and a Masters degree in Applied Linguistics. She held positions as Lecturer, Senior Lecturer and Training Consultant.

She initiated and founded an Early Learning Centre in Pudimoe Township. She also served as a Project Leader for a development project for rural women, was a member of the South African delegation to the United Nations 4th Women Conference in China and the ANC Women’s League Regional Chairperson.
